What do we do?

Renewable Power Partners develops solar energy projects in Canada, United States and internationally. We lease land, obtain regulatory approvals, finance, construct, own and operate solar projects. Every renewable energy project starts with thinking about the community it powers and establishing a social license to operate.

We engage the local municipality and local residents for the purpose of working together in addressing the needs of different communities. Our mission is to reduce our collective environmental footprint by accelerating the transition towards a distributed and renewable power grid. We have an experienced team of solar developers that are dedicated to building commercial rooftop and ground-mount projects.

Every project is designed to be a low risk investment with a sound business plan based on a fixed 20-year contract executed with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), which is a government-run agency that regulates that renewable energy feed-in tariff program.

Together with local citizens (members of Renewable Power Cooperative), we are dedicated to reducing our collective environmental footprint by accelerating the transition towards a distributed and renewable power grid. Recent technological leaps have made this transition possible: a shift towards renewable energy as a viable alternative to fossil fuel generation.

How it Works

The process is simple

The Ontario Government’s Feed-in Tariff Program enables renewable energy projects – such as the ones we develop – to connect to the electricity grid and sell power at a fixed price per kilowatt-hour.

The electricity is sold through a what’s called a Power Purchase Agreement with the Independent Electricity System Operator, over a 20 year period.

After securing a location to construct a ground-mount solar project, we apply to the Ontario Provincial Government and then to the regulatory agency who awards the contract. Renewable Power Partners then secures the financing and constructs the solar project.

Environmental Impact

In a way, most of life, just like the crops in the field, are solar powered. A key benefit of solar photovoltaic technology is that it does not contribute to climate change by emitting greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide and methane.

Recent technological leaps make it possible to transition towards renewable energy as a viable alternative to fossil fuel generation.

Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff program creates the economic conditions that allow businesses, manufacturers, and investors to safely develop solar energy projects.

Each 500 KW solar plant is equivalent to:

  • Protecting 327 acres of mature forest.
  • Offsetting the emissions from 85 passenger vehicles.
  • CO2 emissions from 6,880,000 pounds of coal.
  • Greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 3,000 tons of waste instead of sending it to the landfill.
